Acacia Scripts was formed in March 2005 by three friends with a strong desire to make music. Shortly after beginning rehearsal sessions Martin Power, Steven Andrews and Craig Duncan began to look for a lead vocalist. The band got lucky, and when Tommy Lymer came to practise with the band, they had their first and last audition for a singer.

By November they had entered the recording studio at Redbridge to record their first E.P. entitled 'mourningAFTER'. However due to time constraints, the finished product was not achieved on that visit. And it would take a further two visit's to complete, with the final CD being produced in May 2006.

The band had practised regularly as a four piece at Redbridge Studios for the best part of 2005, writing new songs and working on old ones, whilst looking for a second guitarist to accompany Duncan. After a couple of unsuccessful ventures the band finally found what they were looking for in their good friend Swanny, and subsequently offer him a position in the band.

Tragedy struck in early 2006 when Power developed a hernia, causing all gigs in the near future to be cancelled and eventually, following his operation, practise sessions would have to be put on hold. The band continued to write new songs during this hiatus, and towards the end of August they got together and started to play them.

The band had a plan to cease playing the material that they had written before the break, and solely concentrate on the new tracks, this plan had to be adjusted however when the band made it to the final of the Windows Live Sessions competition. It was at this performance that the band experimented with Swanny on bass and Stez handling vocals with Tommy for one song. The band felt that this line up was a much better one and within a few weeks it had been decided that this is how they would continue.

For the first part of 2007 the band began to gig fairly regularly with a set list containing both old and new songs, as well as the odd cover song every now and then. They continued to work on their favourite tracks in preparation for recording them. This began in May and continued throughout 2007 until the band had completed their second E.P. entitled 'From Ashes Born'.
